Your Session & What to expect:

Expect to have fun!

Let your hair down, open the door to your heart, and leave your Sunday best in the closet. What makes my photos so special is that they’re based on reality… Skinned knees, sticky fingers and all!

Expect to interact.

Just be yourself and interact with your environment and the people in it the way you would if I wasn’t there. Relax and take comfort in knowing that I won’t tell you to smile, “say cheese!” or tuck in your shirt. I might, however, ask you to roll down the hill, lie on the ground, or hang upside down by your toes (just kidding… Maybe!) The bottom line? I might ask you to do things you think are nuts. Just work with me here and come along for the ride!

I’ve found it helpful to center our shoot around an activity (any activity). It could be as simple as running through the sprinkler, baking cookies, or just enjoying an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. It’s all about being together and having fun. What do YOU want to do?

Expect to dress comfortably.

Wear your favorite pair of jeans and don’t be afraid to bring your hot pink cow-girl boots or super-man cape if you feel like it.

(Stay away from overly dressy clothes and things with text or big logos and you’ll be fine!) Clothes are entirely optional for babies… naked bottoms and bare diapers work just fine too.

Expect to relax.

Don’t force it! If you or your kids are shy or not in the mood to smile… that’s OK! The truth is I’m not always looking for smiles and ear-to-ear grins. Sometimes a pensive expression is perfect. So don’t worry about what they’re doing (or not doing) or whether or not they’re even looking at the camera. I’ll take care of all that and will ask for help if I need it.

Sometimes, it helps if you watch from a distance. I might take the kids aside and play or hang out with them separately to get the images I need. If we’re shooting at your home, we might be shooting in your backyard one minute and in the kids’ rooms the next. If they have any favorite toys, costumes or activities, be sure to let me know.
