This may have been the first time I picked up my camera in 2010… memory fails me (more and more it seems!). Either way…. could these two be any more delicious? Is it just me or does Sarah look like some sort of 1970’s goddess? I fantasize about images like this one for myself someday when Emir and I get around to having bambini of our own…. (hint, hint Emir! I hope you’re taking notes!)

I’m often reminded of what a beautiful thing it is to do this work I am so very much honored to do. I’m not talking about the technical craft of creating beautiful images… (though that is always fun!), but rather about the fact that the families I photograph are so willing to share with me such incredibly personal and intimate glimpses into their lives.

Though I have a studio that I use when appropriate, I prefer to shoot in clients’ homes. It takes the definition of ‘personal’ to a whole new level. I am often in clients’ bedrooms, digging through their closets, moving their furniture, laundry… you name it. And I love it.

I was particularly touched by the trust this darling family extended to me. They have this lovely new addition to their family, little Kylan…. and less than 2 weeks since she entered the world…  there I am, taking over their house and invading their personal space for a couple of hours.

We talked about the delivery. Dirty diapers. Sleep schedules. You know…. girl talk stuff. Stuff you talk about with your closest of friends, not necessarily your photographer! Unless… of course….. your photographer is me. :) Kealey and I were having so much fun chatting, big sis Camryn finally interrupted asking, “Are we ever going to take pictures?????” Ha ha!

What fun it was! (You may remember this family from their recent baby belly shoot…. Camryn was too funny!)

How cute is this? Kealey had mentioned to me that Camryn was upset when she heard someone refer to baby Kylan as a ‘peanut.’ I think this was the moment that I asked her about it. Camryn’s response? “She is a butterfly!” Naturally. :)

I love shots like this! I think it’s fun for the kids to see later when they’re all grown up. They can look back and think, “Look how cute and in love mom & dad are! What a lucky kid I was!”

Of course, how could we not shoot the bumble bee costume?

This shoot was the epitome of teamwork and determination… and it totally paid off. Gold stars to Sara & Mitch!

Cuties like this make me want 1,000 kids…. asap. The lil’ darling slept through the whole shoot! Perfection.

It’s been a couple years since I was able to make schedules jive with this fab fam…… I can’t believe how dramatically the boys have grown up in the mean time! Simply unblievable….. I’m still in shock! :)  Great to see you guys again…. yay for early morning shoots!

I think this was the fourth time I’ve had the honor of working with this fabulous crew. I look forward to seeing them every year because they’re always so much fun and up for anything (not to mention, check out John’s hair!!!!!) Love you guys… Great to see you again!

I think Colton is officially taller than you now John!

I **love** the look on this cute little face!

Got ‘cha Hudson! Soon, he forgot about the shutter clicking away and shared that beautiful smile with me!

This shot was taken in a ’secret passageway’ from one yard into the park…. when I was a kid, I **loved** magical passageways like this! My sister and I lived out all kinds of make-believe melodramas  in our backyard in similar locations…. too fun!

Hudson **loved** going down the slide! Still very young, he speaks remarkably well… often referring to himself in third person. Each time he climbed the steps and prepared to launch himself down the slide, he would shout, “Here comes Hudson!”

A trip to the park is rarely complete without a good ‘bonk’ on something, somewhere….. Here, Hudson gets some TLC from mom. The tear on his cheek was picture perfect!

I think this is my favorite image…. the look on his face, the fact that he’s holding a giraffe puppet….. the clean lines of the grass/fence… I just love it! :)

Remember this little stinker? I certainly do! Ha ha! I caught up with Julie and crew for a reunion after last year’s shoot… and had even more fun that we did before. Great to see you all again!

Look at this cute lil’ bundle! I had the privilege of traveling to Omaha to capture this darling and her doting parents. What fun!
